Pregnancy and Obstetric Services

All types of birth are carried out, except for home births. Normal multipara primarily gives birth on an outpatient basis. Maternity is managed either at the hospital, the maternity at home.
The department is responsible for the preventive, health-promoting, treating and coherent efforts for pregnant women who give birth and are to stay in the department. The department aims at births and postnatal confinements to be kept as normal as possible, also in relation to areas that require specialist knowledge.

Pre-maternity and Pre-pregnancy Counseling

Caring for your health before you become pregnant is good for you and your baby.
It’s called preconception care. The goal is to check for any potential risks to you and your baby during pregnancy — and to address any medical issues you may have before you get pregnant.
It’s about becoming your healthiest self — physically and emotionally — before you take that next step into pregnancy.

Garbh Sanskar Camp

Garbh Sanskar, a scientifically proven fact, is an amazing way of teaching/ educating and bonding with unborn baby in womb during pregnancy. The fundamental principle underlying Garbh Sanskar is that unborn baby is able to sense, feel, listen, dream, respond to outside stimulus & environment like thoughts, feeling of mother, soft music, vedic mantra sung in a particular rhythm etc. Also traditionally it is believed and now scientifically proven that child’s mental set up along with personality is greatly influenced by the thoughts of mother during pregnancy. It is the process through which everlasting good impressions can be created on the mind of fetus and modern science also agrees to this fact.

O.P.D

Not all health issues require hospitalization. But there are still numerous minor health concerns for which you may need to consult. At SIMS, we offer a range of outpatient services for women and children with health issues that require advanced diagnostics, consultation, and treatment.

Prenatal and Postnatal screening

( Blood Pressure, Sugar, Twins, Previous Caesarization )

The majority of pregnancies are problem-free. Fortunately, most children come into the world in perfect health. Screenings during pregnancy and shortly after birth can identify any complications, diseases or disorders at an early stage, whereupon treatment can be offered. A screening during pregnancy is termed ‘prenatal’; that after birth is termed ‘postnatal’ and together they are known as ‘perinatal’ screenings.

Frequent Miscarriages, Necessary Checking

Having one miscarriage can be devastating enough, but having one after another is often a very traumatic experience. The very thought of trying again can feel like an uphill struggle, with many couples already expecting another loss before the pregnancy has begun. Any future pregnancies will be full of hope but also tinged with a high level of anxiety. Investigations into a possible reason for recurrent miscarriage is advisable after the third recurrent miscarriage.
There are many possible causes for recurrent miscarriage, including genetic and hormonal problems; infection and thrombophilic (blood-clotting) defects; uterine problems and cervical weakness. Unfortunately, even after investigation, it’s not always possible for doctors to identify the cause for recurrent miscarriage. However, most couples who have had recurrent miscarriage have a good chance of having a baby in the future.

Infertility Testing and Prevention Center

Before infertility testing, your doctor works to understand your sexual habits and may make recommendations to improve your chances of getting pregnant. In some infertile couples, no specific cause is found (unexplained infertility).
Fertility for women relies on the ovaries releasing healthy eggs. The reproductive tract must allow an egg to pass into the fallopian tubes and join with sperm for fertilization. The fertilized egg must travel to the uterus and implant in the lining. Tests for female infertility try to find out if any of these processes are impaired.

Artificial Insemination

In artificial insemination, a doctor inserts sperm directly into a woman’s cervix, fallopian tubes, or uterus. The most common method is called “intrauterine insemination (IUI),” when a doctor places the sperm in the uterus.
The procedure can be used for many kinds of fertility problems. In cases involving male infertility, it’s often used when there’s a very low sperm count or when sperm aren’t strong enough to swim through the cervix and up into the fallopian tubes.

Menstrual disorders

Menstrual disorders are problems related to a woman’s normal menstrual cycle. They are one of the most common reasons women visit their gynecologist.
Menstrual disorders and their symptoms can disrupt a woman’s daily life. They can also affect her ability to become pregnant.
Types of menstrual disorders
There are many types of menstrual disorders, including:

  • Abnormal uterine bleeding. Excessive or prolonged menstrual bleeding
  • Amenorrhea. The absence of menstrual bleeding
  • Oligomenorrhea. Light or infrequent menstruation
  • Fibroids. Noncancerous uterine tumors
  • Premenstrual syndrome (PMS). Physical and emotional discomfort prior to menstruation
  • Premenstrual dysphonic disorder (PMDD). Severe physical and emotional discomfort prior to menstruation

Children Department

Vaccination

Immunization means protection. The most effective and safe way to protect children from contagious diseases is by vaccination.
Vaccines are considered a breakthrough in preventive medicine. Vaccines protect your child’s health by preventing them from contracting severe contagious diseases.
All routine vaccines are provied at SIMS Hospital.

Nebulisation

Nebulisation is a method of converting a medicine or solution into an aerosol, which is inhaled directly into the lungs.
The aim of nebulization treatment is to deliver a therapeutic dose of medicine (in the form of breathable particles) over a period of time, usually, five to 10 minutes Nebulisers are indicated for use in a variety of situations including:

  • when a child or young person has an acute asthma attack
  • when a child or young person is in respiratory distress
  • when a child or young person has stridor
  • before physiotherapy to loosen secretions
  • if a child or young person is unable to use an inhaler the medicine required is not available in an inhaler preparation,
  • when large doses of nebulised antibiotics are required to treat or control persistent infections .

The most common solutions and medicines to be nebulised are bronchodilators, sodium chloride (0.9% and hypotonic), bronchodilators, adrenaline, steroids and antibiotics. Water should never be nebulised.

NICU

The birth of a baby is a wonderful and very complex process. Many physical and emotional changes occur for both mother and baby.
A baby must make many physical adjustments to life outside the mother’s body. Leaving the uterus means that a baby can no longer depend on the mother’s blood supply and placenta for important body functions.
Newborn babies who need intensive medical care are often put in a special area of the hospital called the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The NICU has advanced technology and trained healthcare professionals to give special care for the tiniest patients. NICUs may also care areas for babies who are not as sick but do need specialized nursing care. Some hospitals don’t have the staff for a NICU and babies must be moved to another hospital. Babies who need intensive care do better if they are born in a hospital with a NICU than if they are moved after birth.

All Type of newborn ailments are treated in SIMS Hospital.

Kangaroo Mother Care is provided in SIMS Hospital.
